Learning 2.0 Exercise 12

After interviewing and watching one of my co-workers IM at my library....I think "What took it so long." I have been messaging for years now on ICQ and MSN. This is a great convenience for our customers and also a great way for libraries to draw in more people to use and learn about the library's many resources. I think that once word gets out there more and more we will become very busy with this way of responding to customers needs. Hopefully it will not keep customers from coming into the library and checking out the new materials and resources available to them as well or asking questions "off the beaten path" so to speak. I can see where that could easily happen. I guess the library person manning the IM post would have to make themselves aware of that.

RSS 2.0 Learning

This is very interesting and so easy to do! I have been enjoying adding different news links and blogs from my co workers to my Google Reader. I just have to remember to look for the RSS feed somewhere on the pages that I want to add. I'm looking forward to next week 5 2.0 lesson plan. It feels great spreading my wings and flying.

My Library 2.0 thoughts

This is still very new to me right now. It is exciting to think of communicating ones thoughts and actually be heard via blogging. On one hand, it might be easier to communicate in this way because you are freeing your thoughts with no pressure or intimidation of the presence of another person. On the other hand, it's really not very private when it is open to everyone to read and that takes some getting use to. Overall, I guess this is really the best, easiest way to communicate and to be understood.

7 1/2 Habits

Out of the 7 1/2 habits listed.....for me the hardest one is Confidence. A goal for me is to gain more confidence by creating this blog and expressing myself publicly. The easiest habit for me is of course to Play. I love being creative doing many different things including drawing, crafts, sewing and reading stories to children.
